Since many of you probably don't know what happened let me give you a rundown.
Longtime (10 years) reviewer Jeff Gerstmann had his employment terminated at Gamespot after his low review of a game. The reasoning behind the termination though is due to avarice on the part of Gamespot's corporate owner cNet. (Gamespot and cNet from here on in my post will mean the same thing.)
Eidos Interactive payed Gamespot many dollars to put excessive advertising for their upcoming game Kane and Lynch: Dead Men on the website. After seeing Gerstmann's low review score for the game Eidos pulled all current and future advertising from the website. cNet, enraged at what happened(loss of revenue), immediately fired Gerstmann on the spot regardless of his countless years of service to the company. This destroyed any honor and credibility the site held in the eyes of the majority of the people who frequented the website and forums. Now people cannot herald highly reviewed games because of the notion that is was probably paid-off by some large publisher.
Now I've never been a major fan of Gerstmann's reviews but Gamespot's termination of their highest regarded employee over corporate greed has crossed the line with me. I've already cancelled my paid subscription to the website($45/year) and will no longer visit it. As a further counter-measure and word to them what i think any company that advertises their game on Gamespot will not see me spend a penny on their games. I'm not alone though, approximately 10,000 people have already cancelled their subscriptions which approximately nets a $45,000 yearly loss of income for the company while more people unsubscribe every day. While not exactly that much, people refusing to visit the site has also lost them major amounts of advertising revenue and if people continue to boycott advertisers as well they may lose all sources of funding in mere months.
That's all I wanted to say so /endrant. If you frequent or even visit gamespot occasionally please consider doing the same and show the corporate assholes that they won't get away with it that easily.
NOTE: Check out Penny Arcade's latest web-comic based on the issue.

With the exception of perhaps playing WoW every now and then and Team Fortress 2, I think I'm going to give up on PC gaming. I love computers and especially gaming on them but my computer has been obsolete for some time now and without a job fat chance of me ever being able to build a new one. Trust me as far as open jobs go around here there aren't many and with me starting school next semester a job is out of the question since I'm terrible at multitasking away from the pc. :P Which means a job will just ruin my school performance which I need to be high so I can transfer to LSU.
What does this mean for my gaming habits? Probably just a full fledged return to my roots in console gaming. I already play console games but not near as much as I used to. I just don't have the money I need to support my love for the computer at the moment.
Anyway, not much I can think to talk about. So uh, /endrant.Current Music: Iron Maiden - The Trooper

I can't believe I'm saying this again, but I may be starting up on WoW again. For no reason other than absolutely nothing better to do with my time.
If you ever ask me what I'm up to and I say nothing, I mean just that NOTHING.
Give me mindless repetitive tasks over nothing any day.

Well Emile looks like I did eh? :P I'm just not copying all the months.
- Pick your birth month. - Strike out anything that doesn't apply to you. - Bold the five-ten that best apply to you. - Copy to your own journal, with all twelve months under a lj-cut. - Tag 12 people from your friends list.
FEBRUARY: Abstract thoughts. Loves reality and abstract. Intelligent and clever. Changing personality. Attractive. Sexy. Temperamental. Quiet, shy and humble. Honest and loyal. Determined to reach goals. Loves freedom. Rebellious when restricted. Loves aggressiveness. Too sensitive and easily hurt. Gets angry really easily but does not show it. Dislikes unnecessary things. Loves making friends but rarely shows it. Daring and stubborn. Ambitious. Realizes dreams and hopes. Sharp. Loves entertainment and leisure. Romantic on the inside not outside. Superstitious and ludicrous. Spendthrift. Tries to learn to show emotions.

So this summer is officially underway and it's not really all that boring thus far. Mostly just hanging out with friends, watching A LOT of Star Wars, and World of Warcraft to fill in the gaps.
If any of you guys want to play WoW, I'm on the realm Nazjatar.

Well let me start with letting everyone know that Vegas was amazing. I've met some of the coolest people ever there and I had a great time.
Graduation is coming up fast and I'm quite excited. High School was nothing but problems and annoyances for me so it feels good to finally be free of it. To make it even better I'm taking a semester break before heading off to college which will give me some much needed rest and time to regain my composure for college's long haul.
Location of choice? As of the moment I'm not quite sure, If I go in state it will probably be LSU or Nicholls. What I really want to do is go to UNLV. It's a good school with reasonable requirements and of course I get to have fun with all the friends I made there but more importantly I get to be with Emile. ♥
As for my major... I will most likely be going into Organic Chemistry with a minor in whatever the hell I feel like. :P I've found a new love for chemistry this year and I'd love to perhaps be a professor in it.
Peace.

Well it's been some time since I posted so uh... what's up everybody? Just an update on my life: In approximately 2 weeks I will be flying to Las Vegas to visit friends and a special someone. <3
School has been a typical nuisance in my life but hey, last semester, right? My iPod is officially KIA due to it now having a bad battery and my lack of wanting to fork over $60 for a new one.
I've been doing some reading lately. Currently re-reading Ender's Game. Finishing up House of Leaves(amazing book) and Catcher in the Rye. Also I recommend you all check out The Art of Deception and The Art of Intrusion both by Kevin Mitnick.
That's about, back to the Drum and Bass.

I really don't know why i stopped playing guitar in the first place... I'm enjoying it immensely. Randomly i started playing and ended up figuring out some of the Final Fantasy prelude, the theme to Metroid, and The Legendary Theme from Gitaroo Man.
I just really need to save up cash for a new amp. >_

With lack of significant things to do, I've once again picked up my guitar. I've been really interested in it again lately for some reason, and I need to get back into "shape".
After about 30 minutes of just doing basic chords and chromatic scales my fingers are sore as hell. Been a good while since I played so my fingers are no where near as limber and tough as they used to be.
At least I'll be doing something constructive with my time now. :D

| » That's the plan, man. |
Today was an overall good day, well I should say yesterday... but anyway.
Twas Celena's birthday so to celebrate i went with her and a group of friends to Samurai Dragon to eat. Been a while since I've been there and I forgot how incredibly awesome their sushi was. We also circumvented a 40+ person line by eating at the sushi bar instead of at a table. :D Bought a Rainbow Roll and Dynamite Roll. Quoth Cadillacs and Dinosaurs: "That's good!" I also drank an entire pot of green tea. XD
Random fact: I have officially given up soda and any sugary drinks for good this time. For the past four days I've drank nothing but water and the occasional cup of green tea when i feel like boiling water. Even after only four days I feel much healthier, and i don't feel like crap all day anymore. >:D
Uhh.. peace out yo!
